The Helix Nebula – Chile

High Res Download

“The death of a star results in the Helix Nebula—an enchanting cylinder of intricately woven dust filaments and within its heart resides the white dwarf that ignited this celestial spectacle.”

I processed this image with data acquired under the dark skies of a remote observatory in Chile via Telescope Live.  Renting remote telescope time isn’t the same as using my own equipment but it gave me a chance to hone my processing skills as I await my next telescope adventure.
